The Hub City has a ton going for it, and there is definitely an increase in people relocating to Lubbock in recent years. Not only that, but people are choosing to stay in Lubbock after graduating from college, getting married, and starting families of their own. Lubbock is a great place to raise a family, retire, or even just be young and wild and free. Whatever the case, Lubbock is on the move and attracting more and more people to the city.

The fact is, Lubbock is a great city to live in. It’s obviously growing, but the cost of living remains excellent, there’s plenty to do, and it’s even a great place to start a new business. If you want to know more about how Lubbock is changing and growing, then read on to see the trends from our perspective.

Lubbock Has Seen Plenty of Growth

To truly understand just how much Lubbock is changing, you have to look at just how much the city has grown over the years. According to the 2020 census, Lubbock County’s population grew by 30,000 between 2010 and 2020, from 278,831 to 310,639. This increase in growth can be attributed to a few different factors.

While it would be pretty impossible to ask every new citizen of Lubbock why they decided to move to the city, there are some obvious reasons. First of all, Lubbock’s location makes it the perfect place to live if you have a career in a number of fields, including agriculture, education, healthcare, and more. But that’s not all, so hang tight.

Young Adults Enjoy Lubbock

According to the Lubbock Economic Development Alliance, the median age of Lubbock’s population is about 30 years old, younger than both the state of Texas and the United States median population age. Clearly, young adults love Lubbock, and whether they move here for school or work, they seem to be sticking around.
But why, exactly? Well, Lubbock has a great cost of living, but that’s not all. Lubbock is also a great palace to raise a family, has a low unemployment rate, and salaries that are  higher than you would expect. Additionally, Lubbock has been ranked as one of the best cities for work-life balance, meaning anyone who is too stressed out at work might consider moving to Lubbock to better enjoy their life. Basically, Lubbock is the perfect city for young adults, couples, and families looking to start out on the right foot, and that’s something we’re pretty proud of.

Young Adults Enjoy Lubbock

While the statistics don’t lie, we think there’s even more to Lubbock than just high rankings and affordability. Lubbock has a bustling nightlife, plenty of unique small businesses to support, fun seasonal activities, and enough athletic and musical events to keep anyone entertained.
So really, it’s no wonder people are flocking to Lubbock from all over. It’s a great city to live in, and moving here is pretty easy, too. And not to brag, but with over 10 Affordable Storage locations across the Hub City, Lubbock also has plenty of room to continue growing—all while allowing people a safe space to store their belongings when they do move here.
There’s no denying the fact that Lubbock is seeing a ton of growth, and for good reason! There’s nothing quite like a Lubbock night—or morning or afternoon, of course—so if you’re considering heading to the Texas Panhandle any time soon, we hope you’ll let us help you out!
